TITLE

Finance Manager

SUPERVISOR

Senior Manager, Global Finance

LOCATION

This position is fully remote, and IYF will consider remote candidates based in the following states: Colorado, Florida, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Washington, Iowa, Indiana, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and the District of Columbia. Candidates in other states or outside the USA will not be considered. 

We will also consider candidates in theses locations where IYF works: Mexico, Colombia, Ethiopia, Zimbabwe, and Palestine. 

The selected candidate must be willing to accommodate the US East Coast time zone.

PURPOSE

International Youth Foundation (IYF) is looking to hire an experienced Finance Manager, with experience managing USAID contracts, overseeing budgets, leading financial activities for the project. This position is responsible for providing overall financial management support for USAID-funded project. This position requires an individual with a positive team spirit, enthusiasm to integrate into a growing and highly dynamic team and commitment to a collaborative approach working as part of a global team. The finance function is critical to supporting program delivery. This position communicates with diverse staff in multiple locations using email, video and audio conference technology and hence must be able to communicate and collaborate effectively globally.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Program Financial Management

  • Responsible for supporting financial management of the program including potential field office operations to align with USAID as well as IYF’s rules and regulations.
  • Manage the program budget, track project spending and ensure reports comply with all restricted award regulations and provisions.
  • Prepare timely and accurate quarterly reports, expenditure reports, cost share ledgers and projections in accordance with restricted donor agreement.
  • Manage sub-partner financial management and monitoring activities to align with USAID rules and regulations. Coordinate with partner consortium members for financial management of the program.
  • Ensure proper financial documentation and reporting, establish and provide direction and management of program funds.
  • Monitor the program budget and coordinate regularly with the rest of the program team to ensure the budget is up to date, activities align to the budget, including substantial involvement in annual work plan budgeting.

Organizational Financial Operations

  • Update program information in IYF’s financial systems to ensure proper oversight of the agreement and the implementation of program activities.
  • Manage preparation of expenditure projections for monthly and quarterly review meetings. Continuously update working budgets and staffing allocations for assigned portfolio. Support budget holders in the analysis and interpretation of expenditures and projections.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the assigned project as well as other departments and represent the project in appropriate cross-departmental initiatives, meetings and planning sessions.
  • All other duties as assigned.
  • Fill in as back-up for other Finance positions as needed.
  • Perform other duties including supervision as assigned by Global Finance and Director, Global Finance and Administration Management.
  • This position will report to the Senior Manager, Global Finance and may supervise other potential finance positions, as relevant to the program needs.

REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or equivalent experience (IYF places higher emphasis on demonstrated talents, skills and abilities over formal education – not having a degree should not discourage applicants); 5 years of accounting/financial experience with non-profit organizations ($15M ), experience working in global organizations with multi-office operating environment, multiple programs, with diverse funding streams helpful.
  • Minimum of 3 years in similar financial, compliance, or operational role supporting USAID and international donor projects; dedicated experience operating projects in field a plus.
  • Experience with budgeting and financial reporting requirements on multimillion-dollar USAID-funded projects.
  • Strong knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices, financial reporting standards, financial management processes and procedures,
  • Familiarity with USG Federal Acquisition Regulations and USG contracting rules.
  • Demonstrated support for IYF’s values, DEI initiatives, social justice and racial equity.
  • Exceptional emotional intelligence and collaboration skills to work with cross-institutional teams.
  • Experience supervising and/or collaborating with diverse staff across global locations.
  • Knowledge of GAAP accounting rules, nonprofit accounting, including fund and grant accounting, compliance, and reporting. Government grant and contract management a plus.
  • Tech savvy experience in using the latest technology and applications to improve efficiency a plus.
  • Oral and written English fluency is required. Proficiency in French and/or Spanish is a plus.
  • Demonstrated quantitative and analytical skills.
  • High energy and commitment to working in a diverse and multi-cultural team environment.
  • Proactive, creative, flexible, responsive, with vigilant attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform in a dynamic and high-pressure environment.
  • Ability to learn, work and perform independently in an unstructured environment is required.
  • Growth mindset, with high interest and openness to learn and develop skills.
